Australia Pacific Judicial Partnership Program

The Federal Court of Australia is delighted to partner with the New Zealand Pacific Justice Sector Programme (PJSP) to co-facilitate this year’s regional Chief Justice Leadership Forum (CJLF). The event is generously hosted by Chief Justice Temo and the Supreme Court of Fiji and will bring 13 Chief Justices from across the Pacific to Fiji to discuss regional priorities and challenges.

This year’s CJLF will focus on issues of judicial independence, court communications, and ways Australia and New Zealand’s regional justice programs can best support regional priorities.

In Fiji on the 11 February, the FCA will observe the first Annual General Meeting and Planning Workshop of the new Pacific Association of Women Judicial Officers (PAWJO). One of PAWJO’s objectives is to promote initiatives to empower women in the judiciary – an objective shared by the Federal Court. The Federal Court’s participation in the CJLF and support for PAWJO is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through the Federal Court’s four-year Australia Pacific Judicial Partnership (APJP).
