The Federal Court of Australia is pleased to be hosting the 2026 Francis Gurry Lecture on Intellectual Property series: 'The Future of IP Dispute Resolution', which will be delivered by Sir Colin Birss, Chancellor of the High Court of England and Wales in Court 1 at the New South Wales Registry on 20 August 2026.
The legal landscape is changing before our eyes. The advent of AI and digital assets, the internationalisation of dispute resolution, and the changing expectations of users, all pose challenges, and intellectual property has always raised issues of its own.
In this year’s lecture series, Sir Colin Birss will examine the ever-changing state of intellectual property litigation today and consider how it needs to adapt to meet new challenges, including the legal and practical impact of artificial intelligence; the importance of digital assets and tokenisation; and the emergence of alternative modes of resolving dispute resolution.
