Reconciliation Action Plan: April 2026 to October 2027

The Federal Court of Australia Listed Entity (the Entity) is in the process of the Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The Artwork has been commissioned for the purpose of the Reflect RAP.

The Artwork tells the story of the The Federal Court of Australia (FCA), the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) (FCFCOA (Division 1)), the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (FCFCOA (Division 2)) (together, the Courts) and National Native Title Tribunal (NNTT) coming together as one, united in their purpose and commitment to justice and reconciliation.

Artwork - Circle 1 Artwork - Circle 2 Artwork - Circle 3

The three large circles represent the Courts and NNTT, each a place of gathering, decision-making, and shared responsibility. While each jurisdiction holds its own identity and role, they are interconnected through the flowing blue river which is a symbol of the continual movement of knowledge, truth, and justice. The river also reflects the journey of reconciliation, connecting people, places, and cultures across time.

Along the river, the green U-shaped motifs depict people, communities, Elders, and custodians of knowledge, gathered along the pathway. They represent active participation in the shared journey, each bringing their voice, experience, and wisdom to strengthen the collective purpose.

The footprints trace movement alongside and towards the river, signifying the journeys taken by individuals and groups to come together. They reflect connection, guidance, and the shared destination of unity, law, and reconciliation.

Grounded in Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing, this artwork captures the spirit of oneness, respect, and the shared journey towards a just and inclusive future for all.

Cultural Permissions: The Artwork has been created by Maheen Rind with guidance from family and community to ensure only culturally permitted symbols and stories are represented. All elements have been used respectfully and are shared with the consent of the Artist in line with her cultural responsibilities as a Yamatji Badimaya woman.
