Nye Perram was appointed to the Federal Court on 8 August 2008.
He graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws and from the University of Oxford with a Bachelor of Civil Law. He practised as a barrister in New South Wales from 1993 and was appointed senior counsel in 2006. At the time of his appointment he was a member of the Law and Justice Foundation and the New South Wales Bar Council.
Justice Perram’s chambers are staffed by two associates. Each position is typically of 12 months’ duration. Justice Perram has two vacant associate positions, with one starting in January 2022 and the other in November 2022.
In 2022 Justice Perram will be taking 3 months of long service leave from 31 July 2022 to 6 November 2022. The associate position commencing in January 2022 will therefore run until the end of July 2022 and recommence in November 2022 until May 2023. The associate role starting in November 2022 will run until January 2024. There is scope for some flexibility around the end dates of these positions.
Justice Perram will be taking associateship applications for 2022 between 1 November and 31 December 2020, with a view to interviewing applicants and making offers in early to mid-January 2021. Please be aware that Justice Perram may also appoint Associates for later periods in that selection process, such that applications for positions commencing in 2023 or later will be considered during this period.
