Justice Jackman was appointed to the Federal Court on 6 February 2023.

He was appointed a Deputy President of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (now the Administrative Review Tribunal) on 7 December 2023.

Justice Jackman graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons I) in 1984 from the University of Sydney. In 1985, as a Rhodes Scholar, his Honour went to the University of Oxford where he completed a Bachelor of Arts (Jurisprudence) (Hons I) in 1987 and a Bachelor of Civil Law in 1988.

His Honour was admitted as a barrister in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1989 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2002. While at the Bar, Justice Jackman specialised in commercial and company law and has also published works including in the Cambridge Law Journal and Australian Law Journal. The first edition of his Honour’s book ‘The Varieties of Restitution’ was published by the Federation Press in 1998, and the second edition in 2017.

Associateship applications

Justice Jackson has now selected his Associate and Research Associate for 2026.
