Justice Wheelahan graduated in law at the University of Melbourne in 1986.
From 1987 to 1990 Justice Wheelahan practised as a solicitor in Victoria.
Justice Wheelahan was called to the Victorian Bar in 1990, and took silk in 2004. Before his appointment to the Court which was effective from 3 October 2018, he practised as a silk – particularly in appellate work – in a broad range of areas in Victoria and throughout Australia.
Associateship applications
The Honourable Justice Wheelahan is currently accepting applications for an associate position commencing in mid-2027. Generally his Honour prefers candidates with at least one year’s experience as a solicitor. Candidates are invited to apply by 21 August 2026.
