Justice Raper was appointed to the Federal Court on 2 May 2022.
Justice Raper graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1996 and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 1998 from the University of Sydney, and was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1999.
Justice Raper commenced her career as an associate to the Hon Justice Paul Munro in the Australian Industrial Relations Commission. From 1995 to 2005 her Honour was an associate, and then a senior associate, at Baker and McKenzie. Her Honour has been an adjunct lecturer and then adjunct senior lecturer at the University of Sydney since 2005, and has co-authored two editions of the legal text Discrimination Law and Practice. Her Honour was appointed Senior Counsel in 2019.
Associateship applications
Justice Raper appoints two Associates, generally for a period of 18 months each. The next vacant associate positions will commence in mid-2026 and mid-2027.
Any interested persons should forward their application to nswreg@fedcourt.gov.au to the attention of the Chambers of Justice Raper. Associates will ideally have one to two years of experience as a solicitor. Applications should include a cover letter of no more than two pages, a brief curriculum vitae, university transcript and a sample of academic writing. Please also include the details of at least two referees.
