Justice Mortimer was appointed to the Federal Court in July 2013, based in Melbourne. Prior to her appointment, she was a member of the Victorian Bar and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2003. She remains a Senior Fellow at Melbourne Law School and a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Comparative Constitutional Studies at Melbourne Law School. 

Associateship

Justice Mortimer generally appoints an associate for a period of 18 months. The next available position will commence around September 2022. The following position will commence around June 2023. From June 2020, her Honour’s chambers have operated on a two associate model. The closing date for applications for both positions will be 31 May 2021.

Candidates with post admission practice experience and an interest in public law are generally preferred.
