The Hon Debra Sue MORTIMER

The Hon. Debra Sue Mortimer was appointed to the Federal Court in July 2013. She was appointed Chief Justice on 7 April 2023.
Prior to her appointment to the Federal Court, she was a member of the Victorian Bar and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2003. She remains a Senior Fellow at Melbourne Law School and a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Comparative Constitutional Studies at Melbourne Law School.
Chief Justice Mortimer generally appoints an associate for a period of 18 months. The applications for the associate positions in 2024 have now closed. Please check this webpage regularly for updated details of the application process.
