This Administrative Notice is REVOKED

On 25 October 2016, as part of the National Court Framework (NCF) reforms, all existing Administrative Notices were revoked and 26 new national practice notes were issued, effective immediately.

There will no longer be any administrative state-based notices.

To assist Court users to understand the changes to the practice documents, the Court has prepared:

Allocation of matters in the Victorian District Registry

Patent intellectual property matters will be allocated primarily to Kenny J, Besanko J, Jessup J, Middleton J, Dodds-Streeton J, Pagone J and Mortimer J.

Non-patent intellectual property matters will be allocated primarily to Kenny J, Middleton J, Dodds-Streeton J, Murphy J, Pagone J, Davies J and Mortimer J.

A Corporations List will be managed by Gordon J and Davies J. Matters traditionally dealt with in such a list, such as schemes, appointment of receivers or provisional liquidator’s, letters of demand, liquidator’s advice, Deeds of Company Arrangement questions and so forth, will be allocated to Gordon J and Davies J.

Corporations matters otherwise and generally will be allocated to Middleton J, Gordon J, Dodds-Streeton J, Pagone J and Davies J.

International commercial arbitration matters will be allocated to Middleton J and Murphy J. If both of these judges are unavailable allocation will be to Gordon J, Pagone J and Davies J.
Admiralty matters will be allocated to Marshall J, Kenny J, Gordon J and Pagone J. Urgent applications will be allocated primarily to Pagone J.

Industrial law matters will be allocated primarily to Marshall J, North J, Kenny J, Jessup J, Tracey J, Bromberg J, Dodds-Streeton J and Mortimer J.

Taxation matters will be allocated primarily to Kenny J, Jessup J, Middleton J, Gordon J, Bromberg J, Murphy J, Pagone J and Davies J.

In the areas of public law, class actions and general commercial law (including banking and finance, insurance, and competition law) groups of judges have been organised to consult with the Registrar and, if necessary, the Chief Justice about the organisation of the work of the Court. In addition, the PILCH program will be supported by North J and Bromberg J.
