Lindsay Graeme FOSTER was appointed a judge of the Federal Court of Australia on 4 September 2008.

He is a graduate of the University of Sydney with the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws. After practising as a solicitor in Sydney, he spent some time working in the corporate world. He was admitted to the New South Wales Bar in 1980 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 1994.

At the Bar, Justice Foster specialised in commercial law, competition law, equity and administrative law.

Justice Foster is currently one of two National Co-Ordinating Judges of the Commercial and Corporations National Practice Area of the Court and, in addition, a Registry Co-Ordinating Judge in respect of the same National Practice Area for the Sydney Registry of the Court. Justice Foster was previously the Australian Capital Territory List Judge of the Court for several years.

Justice Foster is also a Deputy President of the Australian Competition Tribunal, having first been appointed to that position in 2011, and an additional Judge of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory.
