Corporations Matters

From the 15 July 2001 the Federal Court of Australia will have jurisdiction to hear matters arising under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (Cth) ("the ASIC Act 2001") and associated legislation.

Listing arrangements

Applications to be listed before a judge will be immediately brought to the duty judge's attention from prompt listing.

Applications to be listed before a registrar will be listed at 2.00 pm on Tuesdays. Practitioners should refer to Schedule 2 of the Federal Court (Corporations) Rules 2000 which sets out the matters registrars have power to deal with.

Urgent applications

Any urgent application will be listed before a judge promptly. Contact should initially be made with the district Registrar to arrange an urgent listing.

The Federal Court (Corporations) Rules 2000

The Federal Court (Corporations) Rules 2000 (Statutory Rule No. 359 of 1999 as amended by Statutory Rule No. 333 of 2000 and No. 127 of 2001) will apply to proceedings commenced under the Corporations Act 2001 and the ASIC Act 2001.
