The Federal Court Registry in Western
Australia is located in the Peter Durack Commonwealth Law
Courts Building,
1 Victoria Avenue, between St George’s Terrace and
Terrace Road.
The public enquiry counter is located
on level 6. Court and hearing rooms are located on levels
4, 6 and 7. Noticeboards at the Victoria Avenue entrance
on level 2 and on levels 6 and 7 show details of the cases
which will be heard by the Court each day.
Hours
The Registry enquiry counter is open
between 8.30 am and 4.00 pm. Telephone enquires can be
made from 8.30am until 5.15 pm, except on weekends and
public holidays.
The Court sits from 10.15am until 12.45pm
and 2.15pm until 4.15pm. However, some court proceedings
may commence earlier, so it is a good idea to check the
Court List in The
West Australian newspaper or on this
website.
Transport and parking
Buses run regularly along nearby St
George’s Terrace. Central Area Transit (CAT) buses
depart from Wellington Street bus station and stop near
the corner of St George’s Terrace and Victoria Avenue.
The Perth City Council public car park
No. 1 is situated in Terrace Road opposite the Peter Durack Commonwealth Law
Courts Building. The Perth Concert Hall car park is
also located in Terrace Road, adjacent to the building.
A taxi rank is located in Irwin Street
near St George’s Terrace and in Hill Street next
to the Sheraton Hotel.
Facilities
The Court publishes a range of resources
which provide information on the Court’s procedure
including mediation, bankruptcy, human rights and witnesses.
This information can also be found on this
website. Some information is available in community
languages.
The publications and court forms are
available at the Registry counter. Court forms are also
available on this website.
There is also a computer terminal for
public use which can be used to access court forms or
to search the Court’s database of cases.
You should also approach the enquiry
counter if you wish to search a Court file. A fee is payable
for searching a court file and for copies of any filed
documents.
Wheelchair access is via a ramp at
the Victoria Avenue entrance.
Public waiting areas and toilets are
situated on all floors. Baby change tables may be obtained
from the Registry on level 6.

Court staff cannot provide child care.
A number of child
care centres operate in the city.
The area is serviced by a number of
cafes and lunch bars.
The Commonwealth of Australia has a
no smoking policy and smoking is not permitted anywhere
inside the building.
The Court’s library is open
for reference purposes to legal practitioners and parties
involved in Federal Court proceedings from 8.30am until
4.00pm on weekdays.
