Neil McKerracher QC was appointed to the Federal Court on 16 October 2007.
He graduated from The University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Laws in 1973. His Honour was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in December 1975. In 1990 his Honour joined the independent bar in Western Australia and generally practised in commercial and civil disputes until his appointment to the Bench. He took silk in 1997.
Throughout his career as a legal practitioner, his Honour was involved in the affairs of the Law Society and Bar Association, in the course of which he held various offices and served for 15 years as a Director, Chairman and Deputy Chairman of WA Bar Chambers Ltd. He also served as an acting Commissioner of the Corruption and Crime Commission (the CCC), a Senior Sessional Member of the State Administrative Tribunal and as a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
